HOT! HOT! HOT! IN LAS VEGAS!

I woke up at 6 a.m. The temperature was 90 °F. Even with air conditioning running, Las Vegas has experienced extreme heat in recent days. The early rise was necessary to water the plants before the day’s scorching heat arrived. Otherwise, waiting until later in the day would risk damaging or killing the plants because of intense heat and evaporation. Not to mention I wanted to avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day, as the high temperatures can be dangerous and may lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

A few days ago, I developed flu-like symptoms, which made it even harder to handle the extreme heat. The harrowing part was the scratchy and itchy throat, which made breathing in the hot air even more uncomfortable. Despite medication, the hacking cough continued. It was so annoying. The relief I received from Halls cough drops was only temporary. To boost my immune system, I took vitamin C tablets and ate plenty of oranges daily. Unfortunately, it didn’t yield any results. The cough remained dry.

Feeling exhausted from the hot weather and a persistent cough, I consulted a doctor. He prescribed Mucinex, but it did not ease my congestion or loosen mucus. The cough persisted, leaving me frustrated and searching for other remedies.

One of the issues I faced was the scorching triple-digit heat. The hot weather only exacerbated my dry cough, making it even more uncomfortable and irritating. Las Vegas’ extreme heat overwhelmed our air conditioner. It was constantly running, but it struggled to bring the house down to a comfortable temperature.

Hisense portable air conditioners were on sale at Lowe’s. My husband and I bought one, and we put it in our bedroom to create a cool and comfortable sleeping environment during scorching hot nights. It was the best purchase we ever made. The Hisense portable air conditioner not only cooled down our bedroom but also reduced humidity, making it much more comfortable to sleep in on hot summer nights. Whenever the heat becomes unbearable while eating in the kitchen or watching TV in the living room, our immediate response is to seek solace in the bedroom. It provided much-needed relief from the oppressive heat and allowed us to find comfort and relief at home. The portable air conditioner was worth the money we paid for it.

And then a miracle happened. Who would have thought iced tea, lemon, and honey could cure my annoying cough? The combination provided immediate relief for my scratchy throat and gradually reduced my coughing fits. Sipping on this soothing remedy throughout the day helped me feel more comfortable and get some much-needed rest. It’s such a relief to have found remedies that work and allow me to rest and recover.

So if everything else fails, try this recipe if you suffer from dry coughing. It works for me, and it might work for you, too. Try it if you’re dealing with a persistent dry cough and need relief.

I can’t wait for cooler temperatures. It will provide some much-needed relief from the scorching heat and make outdoor activities more enjoyable. My plants and trees will appreciate it.
